I needed to go to the Canadian Embassy on Friday, May 25. Since it closed only an hour from when I usually got off work, I was able to leave work early, get to the embassy before it closed, and then enjoy the rest of Friday afternoon exploring downtown with Jonathan before heading back to the institute for vespers. Here are the resulting pictures.

Perspective |
We walked right by one of the many palaces in Seoul, Deoksugung Palace, on our way to the embassy, so when we returned we decided to pay the $1 admission fee and look at the grounds.

Just as we arrived at the palace, a parade of traditionally-dressed mock soldiers marched by, carrying banners and playing traditional musical instruments |

This gate in the wall was rather short... |

Heading back out to the street |
After looking at the palace grounds, we crossed the street to the greenspace in front of the Seoul City Hall. Some kind of event had just taken place and many booths and stalls were being taken down.
